Mara Pellittieri, Editor in Chief

Mara joined TalkPoverty in 2016, after overseeing the website’s redesign. She has guided the website’s digital strategy in the two years since, doubling its audience. She has been with the Center for American Progress since 2014, and served as the organization’s online strategy manager before joining TalkPoverty. Previously, she worked on the digital team at the Legal Services Corporation, the largest funder of civil legal aid in the United States. She began her career as a teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools.

Pat Garofalo, Managing Editor

Pat joined TalkPoverty in 2018. He is the author of The Billionaire Boondoggle: How Our Politicians Let Corporations and Bigwigs Steal Our Money and Jobs, which will be published in April 2019. He was formerly the assistant managing editor for opinion at U.S. News & World Report and economic policy editor at ThinkProgress.

s.e. joined TalkPoverty in 2018. s.e. is a northern California-based journalist and editor with bylines in publications like The Guardian, In These Times, The Nation, Esquire, Rolling Stone, Teen Vogue, Time, Pacific Standard, Bitch Magazine, Vox, and Rewire.News. s.e.’s work focuses on social justice, with a concentration on disability, (trans)gender issues, rural America, and class.
