Think you know the story of the Flint water crisis? Think again. This week, we are joined by Curt Guyette, an investigative reporter with the ACLU of Michigan for an inside look at the Flint water crisis. Working alongside researchers and Flint residents, Guyette broke the story that the city’s water was contaminated with lead. And when the government refused to do what was necessary to protect residents, Guyette took it upon himself to help vulnerable families test their water. In an extended interview with TalkPoverty Radio, he underscores how the national media have only just scratched the surface when it comes to went wrong in Flint. Later in the show, we are joined by Nikki Lewis, the Executive Director of DC Jobs with Justice, to discuss how Walmart has left low-income DC residents high and dry by walking away from its promise to build stores in low-income areas. Alan Pyke of ThinkProgress guest-hosts.
